The challenge
The UK expects overseas suppliers to invest in its defence industry. Meeting that expectation means finding UK companies that can genuinely make your parts, develop your technology or support your programme, and finding them early.
The UK Offset Policy, published on 30 October 2026, sets the rules: Ministry of Defence purchases of £50 million or more, an obligation normally equal to the contract value, and written approval for every project before it starts.

India reported close to a deal for six converted Boeing 767 tankers from IAI
India is reported to be nearing an agreement with Israel Aerospace Industries, working with Hindustan Aeronautics, for six converted Boeing 767 tanker aircraft for the Indian Air Force, with a reference value of US$900 million to US$1.1 billion. Approval by the Cabinet Committee on Security is the next step before signature.

United Kingdom Rules
UK publishes its Offset policy: £50m default threshold, applied from April 2027
The UK Government has published its Offset policy. From April 2027, overseas defence suppliers winning selected contracts worth £50 million or more will normally be expected to reinvest up to the full contract value in the UK, agreed and monitored by a new Offset Authority.

India approves eight next-generation corvettes for its Navy, worth over Rs400bn
India's Cabinet Committee on Security is reported to have approved eight next-generation corvettes for the Indian Navy, worth more than Rs400 billion (about US$4.2 billion), to be built by Garden Reach Shipbuilders & Engineers and Goa Shipyard. As the ships are built by Indian shipyards, India's Offset rules do not apply.

Switzerland
Switzerland shortlists Barak MX and SAMP/T NG for a longer-range air defence system
Switzerland's Federal Council has decided to buy an additional longer-range ground-based air defence system alongside Patriot, with Israel's Barak MX and France's SAMP/T NG still in the running. The Patriot purchase continues as planned.

Poland
Poland chosen to host Europe's PAC-3 missile servicing centre, worth about PLN 1bn
Poland has been chosen to host a European servicing centre for the PAC-3 missiles used in Patriot air defence systems, the only one outside the US, at a cost of about PLN 1 billion (about €227 million). Negotiations with Lockheed Martin continue.

India gives first approval to buy 24 VVIP helicopters, estimated at about Rs10,000 crore
India's Defence Acquisition Council gave initial approval on 26 October for 24 Special Utility helicopters for VVIP transport, part of about Rs2.12 lakh crore of approvals that day. The estimated value is about Rs10,000 crore; no supplier has been chosen.

US Army awards US$48m for chemical reconnaissance sensors on Bulgaria's Strykers
The US Army has awarded Teledyne FLIR Defense US$48 million to supply nuclear, biological and chemical reconnaissance sensor suites for 10 of the Stryker vehicles Bulgaria is buying, under a Foreign Military Sales arrangement.

Denmark
Naval Group signs three Danish partners for its bid for Denmark's new frigates
Naval Group has signed memoranda of understanding with Copenhagen Global, Saab Danmark and SH Defence to support its FDI frigate offer for Denmark's future frigate programme, covering drones, communications and mission modules. Denmark has not yet chosen a supplier.

Poland
Kongsberg wins about NOK 700m to supply weapon stations for Poland's K2 tanks
Kongsberg has signed a contract worth about NOK 700 million with Hyundai Rotem to supply Protector RS4 remote weapon stations for the K2 tanks, recovery vehicles and engineering vehicles ordered by Poland, with a support package. The first systems are due to ship in spring 2027.
