The laws we work to
Capital complies with the anti-corruption and export-control laws that apply to its work, including:
- the UK Bribery Act 2010;
- the US Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA);
- UK export controls and the US International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), where relevant to a client's activity.
Anti-bribery policy
- Zero tolerance. Capital does not offer, give, request or accept bribes in any form, anywhere in the world.
- No facilitation payments. Small payments to speed up routine government actions are not made.
- Gifts and hospitality. Only modest, occasional and transparent courtesies are given or accepted, and never to influence a decision. Nothing is given to a government official without prior written approval.
- Accurate records. Every payment is properly documented and recorded.
- Third parties. Agents, consultants and partners acting for Capital must follow the same standards and are checked before they are engaged.
- Raising concerns. Concerns can be reported in confidence to stephen.lewis@capitaloffsetservices.com.
Export control and the platform
Platform users must upload only unclassified, non-controlled descriptions. They remain responsible for the content of their own enquiries and for their own export-control compliance.
Detailed technical exchanges belong at a later stage, after a non-disclosure agreement and any required export authorisation.
