UK Offset
Under the UK Offset Policy, an overseas supplier that wins a large Ministry of Defence contract commits to deliver UK value equal to the contract, over up to ten years.
What this means for overseas suppliers
- UK partners are needed early, often before a bid is submitted.
- Commitments are usually met over many years, so partners must be stable and capable.
- Credit favours real, lasting UK value: new UK suppliers, new capability, certifications and skilled jobs. Multipliers are planned for priority sectors, regions and smaller companies.
Two ways to create UK value
Buy from capable UK makers now
Place work with UK companies that already make what you need, creating UK exports from day one.
Build new UK capability
Transfer technology, support certification or help a smaller company enter defence, creating capability that lasts beyond the contract.
How Capital helps
The platform finds candidates for both routes and highlights the opportunities, such as a smaller company that could gain a certification or a commercial manufacturer ready to enter defence. Your team then decides where to engage.
Capital's founder has worked on Offset and Industrial Participation programmes for more than 25 years, across Europe, the Middle East, Asia, Africa and the Americas. About Capital
Capital also organises and hosts the UK National Offset Council (UK-NOC), an informal quarterly gathering in London for Ministry of Defence officials, UK companies and overseas suppliers, and runs a practitioner course for people new to Offset.
